As a proud product of public schools, I know that every child deserves a world-class education. A strong public education system isn’t just the backbone of our local economy—it creates the basis for a civic community where people look out for one another.

One of my most important jobs as your state Senator will be ensuring that every child, every parent, and every teacher gets everything they need to fulfill this promise of an amazing education that doesn’t depend on the size of someone’s wallet.

That’s why as your Senator, I will:

  • Fight for an immediate 5% salary raise for teachers, as well as a permanent law to ensure teacher salaries always meet or exceed national averages.
  • Support the establishment of a Universal Pre-K program aimed at those who can least afford it.
  • Work to give teachers and administrators more local control on standardized testing—how it’s designed, how often students are tested, and how to use test scores.
  • Focus on genuine learning instead of making students jump through hoops with minimal real-world application.

Best of all, these investments in our children are incredibly affordable. By simply ending special carve outs in tax code for already-successful corporations, we can ensure everyone is paying their fair share for something we all benefit from.
